The Hungarian Great Plain Animal Husbandry Days Exhibition and Fair is one of
the most esteemed events where agricultural professionals can meet. From the start,
the Expo and Fair has been organized by Hód-Mezõgazda Zrt. (Hód-Mezõgazda
Co. Ltd.) with the significant help of the Hungarian Animal Breeders Association.
From 2005 on, the prestigious professional program also includes plant production,
resulting in the name change to Hungarian Great Plain Animal Husbandry and Agricultural
Days Exhibition and Fair. Hód-Mezõgazda Co. Ltd. marks a new era
of animal trade shows with the introduction of the judging of animals based on
the model of the most developed animal breeding countries.
In 2012, Hód-Mezõgazda Co. Ltd. is proud to host the 19th Hungarian Great Plain Animal Husbandry and Agricultural Days Exhibition and Fair on its impressive exhibition showground. Visitors can enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of the traditional detached timber stalls and show grounds while attending the largest agricultural assembly of the area.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for the representatives of the seven breeding sectors of animal husbandry – horse, cattle, pig, sheep, goat, poultry and fish – and the plant production divisions linked to them, to present themselves in Hódmezõvásárhely.
The main focus of the organizing team has always been professionalism. The public show judging and breeding animal auctions reflect the current state of the top specimen of the national stock. They reflect the hard times also, when the pig or cattle breeding sector reached an economic low point which led to decreased numbers of pigs and cattle at the Exhibition, and make it easy to see in which sectors has there been changes compared to previous years.
As plant production is an essential element of animal breeding, the Exhibition provides more and more space and time for the products and technologies of this division.
This all leads to a widening scope of agriculture presented during the Exhibition and Fair, from reproductive biology through housing and raising technologies to forage, every representative of the products and services related to animal husbandry, such as plant production, chemical fertilizers, seeds and feeds, tools, equipments, machinery can be found at the annual professional assembly.
